Body Products of Note & Sukin Organics

Always a great fan of natural and even more so, organic beauty products, one of my greatest discoveries in the last year has been Sukin Organics.

Sukin Organics is an Australian organic cosmetics company that boasts of 100% natural active ingredients. They have no parabens, no mineral oils, no sodium lauryl sulfate, no artificial fragrance or colours, no petro chemicals, no trithanolamin (carcinogen), no harsh detergents.

When you look at the labels of Sukin Organics, the ingredients are all very straight forward and easy to understand. And, the products are beautiful.

I started of buying the deodorant. Always on the lookout for an aluminium free deodorant that works I tried this one. It is really light and subtle in a convenient spray bottle. It worked for me, although warning I don't sweat much, and I don't stink either (as far as I know - if I stopped showering maybe that would change)

The next thing I bought was the Hydrating Body Lotion. An alluring essential oil mix on an aloe vera base. Works beautifully, and I have extremely dry skin in a abrasive Australian climate. Really great, no irritation and so gentle that I use it on my little girl.

There is no greater value for money (and I've done the calculations) than the Botanical Body Wash. At $19.95 AUS for 1 litre, it's definitely the best value out of all the organic product lines.
And the best quality for the price, none greasy or runny or rich, just smooth beautiful creams and gels, understated, simple and effective.

Their products are now also carbon neutral.

There is another Australian brand that I wished to mention. Sohum, a Melbourne brand with aromas and body products to die for. I found it while walking down Chapel St, Melbourne, I walked into this calm, tranquil, beautifully thought out store. It stocked a brand I had never heard of called Sohum. After agonising over what to buy for sometime I chose a body butter called Vanilla Bourbon, it was like silk to touch, and smelt so good it made me want to have sex with myself. All their products seem to be so well thought of. Gorgeous gorgeous creams, scrubs, lotions and candles.

My Choice or Paula's?

I am and have always been a bit of a skincare/makeup junkie. I just think if you have great skin, it will make you feel beautiful and confident always as well as being healthy on the inside.

Being of mixed race I have olive skin, which is for me and usually is for everyone OILY. Very oily!! So I have been through many skincare regimes. What is working for me at the moment is Paula's Choice.

Paula Begoun is the lady that writes 'Don't go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me' that big bible of a book that attempts to demystify the billion dollar cosmetics industry. Anyway, the long and the short of it is, she has her own cosmetics line called Paula's Choice which is a not very fancy medium priced non fragranced line that seems to be very effective. It has little to no ingredients that will irritate the skin and more than not...it works.

As I said I have 'OILY' skin so I am using the following:-
Skin Balancing Cleanser or One Step Face Cleanser

The skin balancing is a creamy consistancy and the one step is a clearer gel like consistancy. Both do basically the same job. No fuss cleanser that has had no negative side effects at all. Great simple products that remove dirt and makeup and can be used on the eye area without irritation. Will take off eye makeup with the assistance of a face cloth.

Exfoliating 2% Beta Hydroxy Acid
Oh my lord this stuff works. PC doesn't have any scrubs or peels etc in their range, but they do have BHA or AHA acid gels. They recommend using it once a day or every two days. I was someone who suffered from blackheads and had quite severe congestion under the skin on my forehead. Within a week of using this product it had totally disappeared, which is saying something considering I have used many good brands, Dermalogica, Jurlique, Clarins, Thalgo.
The BHA is definately the best exfoliating product I've ever used on my face. You just apply a tiny bit under your moisturiser at night and that's that. Awesome stuff!

Day Moisturiser - Skin Balancing Daily Mattifying Lotion SPF 15
Thin simple lotion with an SPF in it for daytime protection. Light enough to do its job without being greasy or too rich. Easy pump container which is convenient enough to carry in your handbag.

Night Moisturiser - Skin Balancing Moisture Gel
I have never felt anything like this gel before. It has the strangest texture that I have ever felt. A little goes a long way and it is so light and lovely. I just want everyone to feel this gel, it's so state of the art I really have never seen anything like this in any brand. Oh and you can use it on the eye area.

That's it for the facial skincare at the moment. I'll keep ferreting through my current discoveries and alert you of any new ones.
